The Cabinet has taken several decisions to resolve the salary anomalies suffered by teachers and principals, at the meeting held yesterday (30).
This was in accordance with the recommendations tabled by the Cabinet Sub-Committee appointed to review the matter.
Accordingly, the Teachers’ Servive, the Teacher Advisory Service and the Principals’ Service are to be declared closed services and a gazette will be declared in this regard before November 20.
Decisions are made to include salary revisions in the 2022 Budget Proposals to eliminate the anomalies. These proposals suggest that the salary anomalies will be eliminated in several stages and teachers who are conducting online lessons in September and October will be receiving an allowance of Rs. 5000, in addition to their salary.
Further decisions are made to implement the other proposals by the Sub-Committee through the Education Ministry within six months.
