NMRA approves the import of the covid drug mentioned by the Opposition Leader

Channa Jayasumana, Minister of State for Drug Supplies, has approved the importation of REGEN COV, a drug approved by the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United Kingdom, and Japan, for emergency use in high – risk patients including those who have undergone organ transplants.

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa continued to point out that it was appropriate to follow the advice of relevant experts to bring this drug to Sri Lanka.

In a media briefing a few days ago, the Chairman of the National Drug Regulatory Authority, Dr. Rasitha Wijewantha had stated that the Committee on Covid of the Drug Regulatory Authority had refused to approve the importation of this drug. He had stated that it was rejected as there was no reliable information on the effectiveness of this drug.
