Another member of the covid Suppression Technical Committee has resigned. It is the President of the Anesthesiologists Association, Dr. Ashoka Gunaratne. Gunaratne has informed the authorities of his resignation yesterday.
Regarding his resignation, he said he had represented the committee for about a year and a half, but they had not been able to make a significant contribution to the fight against the epidemic. The doctor says that he decided to resign as he did not think it would be good to continue as a member of the committee.
Earlier, specialist Dr. Ananda Wijewickrama had also resigned citing a number of issues regarding the control of the covid epidemic. He had said that this could lead to a serious situation in the future and that he could not be held responsible if such a situation arose.
Prior to Ananda Wijewickrama, Prof. Neelika Malavige had also resigned from the committee.
