State Minister of Finance Ajith Nivard Cabraal has responded to the media allegations claiming that the Minister had requested for a government pension for his post as the former Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), saying that they are completely false.
Cabraal wrote on his Social Media that he has not received a single cent as a pension.
Commenting on the alleged used of a government vehicle, Cabraal noted that he has not availed himself of a ‘duty free’ government vehicle after his role as the CBSL governor for nearly nine years.
The State Minister also urged the public to be cautious of fake news.
“I have NOT received a single CENT as a pension. Neither have I availed myself of the DUTY FREE vehicle from the Government after working as the Governor for nearly 9 years. Be cautious of fake news,” he wrote.
