Two arrested over protesting against reopening of liquor bars granted bail

The Colombo Magistrate Court on Monday (20) ordered the release on bail of two suspects arrested over protesting against the government’s decision to re-open liquor bars.

Accordingly, the two were released on a surety of Rs. 500,000 each.

A protest action was carried out by the United Self-Employed Trade Union against the reopening of liquor bars, despite the curfew currently in force.

The protest action was ceased by the Police and Pradeep Charles, President of the Union, and another member were arrested on the scene.
