It is reported that the final decision regarding the increase in the price of milk powder will be taken at the Cost of Living Committee meeting tomorrow (23).
Importers have repeatedly demanded an increase in the price of milk powder due to rising world milk prices, rising shipping costs and the appreciation of the dollar, but the government has not allowed it and there is a shortage of milk powder in the country.
In this context, a discussion was held between the Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa and the milk powder companies recently and an agreement was reached to increase the price of a kilogram of milk powder by Rs. 200.
Accordingly, the final decision in this regard will be given by the Cost of Living Committee which will meet tomorrow.
