Milco Company says that the price of locally produced milk powder should be increased as the Milk Powder Importers Association took steps yesterday to increase the price of imported milk powder.
The chairman of the company Lasantha Wickramasekara said at a media briefing yesterday (09) that the price should be increased as the cost of producing local milk powder has also increased.
He also urged the people to use local liquid milk as a substitute for milk powder.
The Milk Powder Importers’ Association announced yesterday that the price of a kilo of imported milk powder will be increased by Rs. 250 and accordingly the new price of a kilo of milk powder will be increased by Rs. 1195. The new price of a 400 gram packet of milk powder is Rs. 480.
Meanwhile, it is reported that discussions are underway regarding the increase in gas prices.
Laugfs and Litro are holding separate discussions and will hold public meetings in the near future to brief the public on how each company will increase prices.
