A Milk Rice Dansal movement was organised near the Gunasinghe Statue in Colombo Fort today (12) in objection to the surge in the prices of gas, milk powder and other essential commodities. The movement was organised by the Self-Employed Women’s Association of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB).
Activists and self-employed women joining the protest pointed out that the rising cost of living is unbearable catering to major crises in the families.
The protesters urged the President to hand over the country back should he fail to rule it properly.
