A group of farmers staged a massive protest in Polonnaruwa demanding fertiliser required for paddy cultivation.
More than 5000 farmers joined the protest action in Minneriya town crossing the Batticaloa – Habarana mainroad.
The protest was organised by farmers movements in Kaudulla, Minneriya, Giritale and Parakrama Samudra.
Due to the protest, a heavy traffic jam has occurred on the Batticaloa – Habarana road.
