Neither Sarath Weerasekara, the Minister in Charge of Police, nor any other minister in the government can threaten government officials, emphasised, Thenne Gnanananda Thero of the Joint Development Officers Centre and the Joint Trainees Union.
Such threats against government officials should be stopped immediately, the Thera noted, stressing that the concepts brought by ministers like Weerasekara themselves to build a law abiding society are now being violated.
“Recently we have seen what happened to the ministers who threatened government officials. Therefore, I think Minister Sarath Weerasekara should also be taught a lesson. All government officials should come together and give an answer. If there is no ability to work with a minimum of independence, there is a problem in the Public Service,” the Thera added.
