It has been decided to reopen the schools which were closed due to the covid epidemic. A discussion on the reopening of schools in the Kurunegala District on the 21st of this month under the first phase was held at the Kurunegala District Secretariat under the patronage of Chief Government Whip, Minister Johnston Fernando.
Preparations to reopen schools as per the guidelines given by the health sector and the issues that have arisen were discussed.
Accordingly, officials from the Kurunegala, Ibbagamuwa, Nikaweratiya, Mahawa, Kuliyapitiya, and Giriulla Education Zones in the Kurunegala District were called separately to obtain information on the current situation of the relevant schools.
Decisions were also taken to provide the necessary health facilities to the schools which will be reopened on the 21st. It was also proposed to deploy graduate development officers to carry out necessary activities for several problem schools in the district. It was stated that two police officers would be deployed for all schools starting on the 21st for security reasons.
