Namal sends Letter of Demand to Mahindananda over defamation






National Organiser of the All Ceylon Agrarian Federation Namal Karunaratna has sent a letter of demand to Agriculture Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage claiming that his reputation has been damaged due to a recent comment made aiming the farmers struggle, thereby demanding a compensation of Rs. 500 million within 14 days.

The letter of demand has been sent via Attorney at Law Sunil Watagala and the Union Organiser stated that legal actions will be taken if the demanded compensation is not paid.

Aluthgamage had publicly commented that the farmers are sent on protest demanding fertiliser for the Maha Season by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) and that the leaders of the JVP together with Karunaratna have been paid by fertiliser companies to do so.
