The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) is yet to submit a report to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa pertaining to former SLFP lawmaker Nirupama Rajapaksa and her husband Thirukumar Nadesan regarding offshore accounts and properties held by them.
President Rajapaksa’s Legal Division on 06 Oct. asked for a report within a month.
yesterday (9) asked CIABOC Secretary Apsara Caldera whether the report had been submitted as requested, and she said an interim report would be handed over soon. Responding to another query, the official acknowledged that the commission was yet to record the former MP’s statement.
Pandora Papers have so far named three Sri Lankans––former MP Nirupama Rajapaksa, her husband and R. Paskaralingam, who served the late Presidents Ranasinghe Premadasa and D. B. Wijetunga as well as UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Secretary to the Treasury. (SF)
