If the SLFP does not agree with the govt. manifesto’s vision of prosperity, they should leave the government

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) says that the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) is shamelessly criticizing the government from within the government where it is having difficulty in implementing its policies and that if it does not agree with the manifesto’s vision of prosperity, it should leave the government.

“There are going to be some issues with what we do as a government, for example, the fertilizer issue. If this was successful, President Sirisena would be the first to come out and say, ‘I started it first, this the full honor should come to me.’ But when this goes wrong, they say, ‘No, this is completely wrong, we’re not into this, this is wrong.’ This should not happen in coalition politics. If a party thinks that their vision of prosperity is not in line with the policy statement, then they should withdraw from it.

We see this as a shameless two-faced act. They stay in the government, enjoying all the privileges available, getting all the things, and keep criticizing this policy, the intelligent people in this country have something to think about what they are doing. All those who betrayed the policies of the SLFP and were involved in the bond deal are still leading the SLFP today.

The General Secretary of the Sri Lanka People’s Front, Parliamentarian Sagara Kariyawasam stated this addressing a media briefing held at the party headquarters yesterday (29).
