DP Education initiative launched by renowned business figure Dhammika Perera and his wife Priscilla Perera was commended in Parliament yesterday (01).
Mass Media Minister Dullas Alahapperuma joining the Committee Stage Debate on the 2022 Appropriation Bill under the Education Ministry’s Expenditure Head emphasised on the mission of DP Education in providing free education to millions of children in Sri Lanka, appreciating Mr. Perera’s contribution in this regard.
“Mr. Chairman, in addition to the efforts made by the Ministry of Education to provide education online and on television, we would like to remind you that the Business Community of this country, similar to that of the developed states, has come forward to help children in this challenging time. DP Education sets the best example. Millions of children are receiving their education in Sinhala, Tamil and English via that Channel subscribed by more than one million users. Were it not for Dhammika Perera’s DP Education program, which was gifted to children for free with such quality, and the program initiated by the Education Ministry, we would not have been able to imagine the scale of the tragedy that children may have to face during this overflown pandemic. As grateful Sri Lankans, may we in this House appreciate it,” Alahapperuma said.
