Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Trincomalee District MP M. Imran yesterday (7) claimed that pre-school teachers and the employees attached to the Pre-School Education Bureau of Eastern Provincial Council, who are not fluent in Sinhala, are struggling to work with the officials who don’t speak Tamil. Imran added that nearly 75 per cent of pre-schools in the Province function in the Tamil medium. “The Government should recruit Tamil-speaking officials to this Bureau considering the issue of Tamil-speaking people in the Province who don’t know any other language except Tamil.”
He said that the SJB Batticaloa District organisers had brought the issue to his attention urging him lobby the Government for a sustainable solution.
During our United National Front (UNF) led Good Governance regime, we had given priority to Sinhala and Tamil languages while recruiting for the State Sector to serve all communities equally, MP Imran added.
