CEB confirms that it is possible to supply electricity without any interruption from today

Power and Energy Ministry spokesman Sulakshana Jayawardena said that the power cut in the last few days has ended and the power supply will be restored as usual from today (10).

On the 3rd, two generators in Norochcholai went out of order due to a breakdown in the transmission line from Kotmale to Biyagama and the third generator had already been removed from the system for maintenance.

Jayawardena said that it would take 4 to 5 days to restore the generators when they were out of order and that the power supply would not be disrupted from today as the third and second generators have now been added to the system.

He said the first generator could also be added to the system by tomorrow.

Accordingly, the Ceylon Electricity Board has confirmed that it will be possible to supply electricity without any interruption from today, said Jayawardena.

After the power outage that occurred on the 3rd of this month, the generators of the Norochcholai power plant will be reconnected to the system. The power outage lasted for about an hour in some parts of the island from 06.00pm to 09.30pm.

Jayawardena also stated that the report of the committee appointed to look into the power outage that took place on the 3rd will be received soon.
