395 more patients recover from Covid-19

The Ministry of Health says 395 more COVID-19 patients in total were discharged from medical care today (December 16) as they have recovered from the virus infection. This brings the total number of recoveries reported in the country to 546,498. Since the outbreak of the pandemic last year, Sri Lanka has confirmed as many as 576,966 COVID-19 infections. According to official data, 15,791 virus-infected patients in total are currently receiving treatment. Meanwhile, the death toll from the novel coronavirus outbreak in the country stands at 14,677. STF recovers large cache of ammunition from Kilinochchi

The Police Special Task Force (STF) has recovered a large cache of ammunition from Ramya Road in the area of Kilinochchi. According to the police, a total of 84 boxes containing 750 rounds of ammunition for T-56 firearms were unearthed from a plot of land where concrete structures are made. Government urges to regulate the importation of motor vehicles

The Health Ministry says that 772 persons have tested positive for the novel coronavirus within today (15). This includes two returnees from overseas while the rest are associated with the New Year Covid-19 cluster.
