Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa said today that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had never asked him to step down and he was sure he would never do so.
He said the government would take steps to rebuild the nation even by obtaining foreign aids.
“The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has agreed to provide us with required funds when we explained them the situation in our country. Finance Minister Ali Sabry throve in that area. I discussed with the officials who left for IMF talks. The IMF has kept faith on us. However, we have had to adhere to some of their conditions. We need to follow them and move forward,” he said.
The Premier said this during a meeting with members of the local bodies at Temple Trees this morning.
