Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has resigned from the Premiership a short while ago. His resignation comes at a time when an islandwide curfew has been imposed after pro government supporters clashed with anti government supporters in Colombo and several other parts of the country. On Friday, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had informed his brother to step down from the post as a solution to solve the ongoing political crisis. Prime Minister Rajapaksa has informed some of the SLPP MPs that he will make his decision today. (Jamila Husain)

Sri Lanka : Nation-wide curfew extended to Wednesday (11) 7 AM
Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has extended the nation-wide curfew to 7 AM on Wednesday (11) with immediate effect, by virtue of the powers vested under section 16 of the Public Security Ordinance (Chapter 40).
